Exhibition bauhaus imaginista
20.09.19 – 12.01.20
100 years of the Bauhaus – Bern commemorates its masters and is the Bauhaus centre of Switzerland. A pivotal chapter in the history of architecture and design is celebrating its centenary. Bernese artists Paul Klee and Johannes Itten were two of the first Bauhaus masters and played a key role in shaping the school when it was established in Weimar in 1919. Despite the Bauhaus’s relatively short life of only 14 years, the legendary school still continues to be influential in design today. The exhibition bauhaus imaginista is the first to investigate the global history of the reception and dissemination of the Bauhaus and thus to open up a new perspective on the Bauhaus.
