Narrator Sebastian Koch
Sebastian Koch is one of the most internationally sought-after German actors of his generation. After taking stage production roles in Berlin, Bochum and Darmstadt, he garnered the Grimme Award twice in 2002 for the leading part in Peter Keglevic's Der Tanz mit dem Teufel – Die Entführung des Richard Oetker (The Dance with the Devil – The Abduction of Richard Oetker) and his portrayal of Klaus Mann in Breloer's family saga Die Manns. His international breakthrough came with the Oscar-winning cinema film Das Leben der Anderen (The Lives of Others) (2006; Director: F. Henckel v. Donnersmarck). Koch was honoured with a Globo d'Oro, Quadriga and Bambi for his role as Georg Dreyman.
Since then he has appeared in numerous international film productions including Paul Verhoeven's Black Book (2006), Steven Spielberg's Bridge of Spies (2015), Tom Hooper's The Danish Girl (2015) and Paul Weitz' Bel Canto (2017). He played the German entrepreneur Otto Düring in the 5th and 6th season of the American television series Homeland. The film Werk ohne Autor (Never Look Away) (Director: F. Henckel von Donnersmarck) received widespread international acclaim after its premiere at the Venice International Film Festival in autumn 2018 and has been nominated repeatedly at the Oscars and Golden Globes. In 2018 Sebastian Koch was presented with a Bambi in the "Best Actor (National)" category for his portrayal of Prof. Seeband. He was inducted into the Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences (AMPAS) in July 2019.
Alongside his acting work he regularly enthrals audiences with staged readings to musical accompaniments, among them Paradies with violinist Daniel Hope, Traumnovelle with the Hubert Nuss Jazz Quartet and most recently The Kreutzer Sonata by L. Tolstoy which Sebastian Koch adapted and reworked into a stage play with piano and violin accompaniment.
