Narrator Edwin Thomas
Edwin Thomas is an English actor, recently nominated as a Screen International "Star of Tomorrow" for his work in The Happy Prince (2018). Written and directed by Rupert Everett, the film charts the last two years of Wilde's life as he travels in exile across Europe. Edwin plays Robbie Ross – lover, loyal friend and confidante to Wilde – and stars opposite Colin Firth, Emily Watson, Tom Wilkinson and Colin Morgan. The film opened to international acclaim at Berlinale and Sundance, described as a “tour de force achievement” by the Times, with Variety's Guy Lodge singling out Thomas for praise: “Ross’s weary, take-and-take relationship with his client, friend and sometime lover gives the film its most quietly moving thread, buoyed by Edwin Thomas’s stoic, softly sorrowful performance.”
Edwin trained at The Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London, although starting out in theatre (The Way of The World, The History Boys, Candida) he has worked most extensively in television: most recently Victoria (ITV), Endeavour (ITV) and Into The Night (Netflix). He recently completed filming on The Laureate (Fluidity Films), and is currently producing on two scripted features. Thomas combines his work on screen with a career in Health & Education – he taught French and English across London schools, and is a certified Feldenkrais® practitioner, working with actors and athletes to improve their movement. Edwin is passionate about combining these fields with his work in entertainment. He is currently developing a podcast on Health, Creativity and Grief.
Having treasured his time on The Happy Prince, Edwin is delighted to team up with maze pictures once more, and hopes Mapping Klee will bring the remarkable journeys of Paul Klee and his contemporaries to a new audience – he is thrilled to be part of a movement that brings modern art online in previously unimagined ways, and excited to see where this will lead.
