SOMMERAKADEMIE IM ZENTRUM PAUL KLEE
Sommerakademie 2012 «Tin Soldiers and Nixon Coming»
This year’s Academy curated by Marta Kuzma departs from Marcel Duchamp’s journey through the Jura Mountains in 1912 as a way for the artist to construct a parallel world so to imaginatively work through his contested relationship to military conscription. The ‘Jura-Paris Road’ served as a forum of preparation for a mission that illustrated the artist’s interest in the process of human potential as well as in mechanical systems, the dimensions of risk and chance, unpredictability among a set of givens and illustrated Duchamp’s political subjectivity through a process of thinking, doing, projecting, viewing, consuming, and even pretending in order to form abstract constellations as to possible alternatives.
